Penguins Hockey "New Goal is HD"
According to an announcement in a web article on WPXI.com, "the Pittsburgh Penguins are ready to talk hockey with an all new HD radio channel." This would be the first team to broadcast professional hockey 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to programming on the Penguins, the channel will include coverage of the NHL and the sport of hockey in general.
"Pittsburgh Penguins Radio" will be broadcast on 105.9 HD-2 and pittsburghpenguins.com. Fans will be able to follow the Penguins season beginning with training camp in September.
According to the article, Dave Soltesz, the penguins' senior vice president of corporate sales, says "the Penguins have seen a major increase in their fan base and felt it would be a good time to get into radio," he added that "the Penguins always are looking for new ways to deliver unique content to the greatest fans in hockey, and we're excited now to be the first team to venture into the world of 24/7 HD radio."
